Ellie in the car as we do our errands today. (It is suppose to snow a LOT this weekend so for the next two days we can just snuggle in our house and eat hot chocolate!)
Ashley: Now this is a news flash, Ash officially now has Reactive Airway Disorder. This is almost-asthma in kids. Over 85% of kids no longer have it when they grow up. But 90% of them will be allergic to cats. She got a small cold a few days ago, but she last night just coughed and coughed and coughed. And hardly slept at all. Poor baby! So we went to the doctor this morning.
We got drugs, antiobiotics (for an almost-ear infection) and steriods to calm down the bronchi's (is that spelled right?) We also got ....a nebulizer! Yep, we do simple breathing treatments in our home now. This is the first treatment.

Later, when daddy said it was time for the second one (he was in charge of figuring out the machine, etc. and good thing he was here!) she said: "I like it now," and was very cheerful about it. So don't think we are being mean!
And she has coughed like 3 times tonight, total. YAH!!
Basically this just means that we always error on the side of caution. When we go on trips, we take the nebulizer and drugs with us, just in case. Small things "tip the scale" on RAD -a cold can start the airway restriction, being around an allergin (cats, etc.), sometimes even the cold weather. But she is still excellent, can play outside (just watch breathing/coughing). So we are not too worried and are very grateful for drugs and knowing-what-to-do.
