Look how pretty my apricot tree is!
And the magnolia!
We are the Happy Herrons. I, the writer of this blog, am the adoring wife of Josh, happy mom to Ellie, Ashley and Michael. I have amazing friends and love to bake (even if it is gluten-free).
The kids and I have different Spring Breaks this year.
Ellie was nominated to go to Skills USA this year. It is a big competition with trade skills people - you do a series of tests and then practical skills, etc.
She got a cute shirt. Unfortunately there were a lot of mis-communications about the whole thing.
Also, she spent a day doing federal jury duty in SLC!! She drove over there, got parking, got to the court room, waited around, watched a video, was told to go wait outside and then got dismissed before even getting the 'light lunch.'
Oh well, she did good adulting!
The other kids and I went out to breakfast and then to SLC to a great D.I. $10 game! (Only we spent more because Ashley's old boss had transferred there are got us a 15% off discount card!)
So Courtney (Buell), got tickets to the Saturday afternoon session of General Conference through some (babysitter of the kindergardener car pool thing). I strongly feel every convert should be able to go to Conference in real life at least once. Anyway, I said I would go.
It started out all fine. We parked (Ashley said she would come with us, and walked about the mall and went back for a nap in the car). And walked four blocks up to the conference center. All good. Then we went to find our seats.
And they directed us over there, and then down there, and more down there, and more down.
WE WERE IN THE FREAKING RESEARVE SEATING!!!
Literally 5 rows up from the guy with the rope. See pictures below. He was a great security guy - scanning the crowd the entire time.
I was RIGHT in front of the pulpit (like literally, if I had been a seat over, I would have been blocked by the teleprompter pole),
I am guessing 30 rows up from the FRONT.
And there were tons of famous people all over!! And apparently ELDER UCTDORF (himself?) had 'given' out our tickets.
Elder Anderson, Uctdorf, Sheri Dew. wow!
It was really all overwhelming, even for an old conference hand like me. It was fine, I only got a little sleepy toward the middle.
Courtney had a grand time. Then we went to Costco, which was almost busier than Conference Square.
If you have seen these, then move on!
Crocuses coming up!!
Got the "lap" quilt all laid out and sewed together. Karen Perry said she might help me, so I realized I should not start sewing it.
We went to see Sara and Grandma, a good time was had by all.
My fingers continue to bend to the right. They don't hurt (like for playing the piano), if I tape them up with medical tape first. It like prevents that tiny 'push' that makes it hurt.
So for Date Night, Josh suggested we go test drive cars! (Since we are sort of in the market for one).
I drove a Tesla!! It was weird. It slows to a stop when you are not actively pushing on the gas pedal. And all the buttons are on the steering wheel. But I did like it that it showed you all around the car, so you didn't back into anyone (not that this has been a problem).
Josh drove another Mazda, which he did not like because the window ledge was too high to rest his forearm on when he drives.
Then we went to a "New Chefs Work Here' sort of restaurant. My beans, rice and fried plantain was yummy, Josh did not like his fish much.
Happy Dates!!
