Chicken coop in the sky

Little Red Hen went to that great chicken coop in the sky last night. Ashley called me all upset and I went out and she was collapsed on the pen floor. She had a sort of cough/hack for the last few days. She looked pretty dead. There were tears. Everyone seems fine this morning.  Maybe we will have the big kill-off this weekend and get it all done.

Weekend

This summer has been unusual in that Josh hasn't started testing yet. Last year he was off working days and nights in April! This year they are not starting until mid-July. So we have him in the evenings and on weekends he is not too tired to play. Josh had his annual evaluation and got a raise! So we celebrated by buying everyone a toy. Then mom and dad went to dinner and to see the community production of "Man of La Mancha." Ashley got a "pedal fairy" kit and Ellie got an owl coloring book. Moo got a long hand-grappie-thing.

After the toy store we went to a kitchen store! Mom and dad got some kitchen stuff - including new kabob sticks! We stopped by an got some metal stuff and headed home. Mom needed a little nap. Then it turned out the boys had been making a kabob holder! Moo was very excited to be a helper. And dinner was delicious. On Sunday night we had Uncle Mark and Grandma over and enjoyed kabobs again! Come over and enjoy!

Provo

On Wednesday we  played in Provo where the girls had their first tennis lesson from champion-tennis-girl Heather. Of course we went to Seven Peaks and had nachos and kool aid at Grandma's - a great time was had by all! Thursday Bugs and the Herrings came to spend the day. The ladies got to go out to lunch and Sariah watched the kids -brilliants! Sorry, no pictures were taken.

Train museum

On Tuesday we took-er on up to the Ogden train museum via the train! A great time was had by all, but it was hot and I think I got heat stroke.

Chicken update and crafty

Since it was Monday morning, we decided to do a chicken photo update. Here we are! And here is a four-story crafty Ellie made for her geckos she made at camp.

The Big Event

For the second year, we were invited out to participate in the Boy Scout's Big Event. It is at a camp up in northern Utah somewhere. On the way there, we stopped for the snow! Our new tent worked out great. The kids had a FABULOUS time running, playing, water-playing, getting dirty and being tired. Josh got sunburned working and showing Scouts how to build Water Rockets. I read four books and took some naps. The last night there (I had been so cold at night) Josh warmed up a rock for me, carefully wrapped it up and put it in my sleeping bag! It was my best sleep ever! I was toasty all night long. We made it home before the rain and got everything put away so we had a nice lazy Sunday. Josh survived his talk and we lazed on our couch!

New tent and Livy's baptism

We are now also too big for our 5 person tent. Since we are headed out to the Big Event (scouting thing we went to last year), I wanted us all to sleep in one tent, not two. So we got a 10 man tent! And of course we had to test it out before the big day. It was pretty  nice. Josh and I sleep in the "back" room and put the kids in the first room. We might take the old tent and just put our stuff in it - less messy I am thinking. Also Olivia Herron's baptism was Saturday and we enjoyed catching up with the Herron clan!

Friends and water sliding

It was hot so we invited some friends over and did the slip n slide! Also the peepers are in the dog cage now and are getting more-chicken-like looking.

Happy birthday Ellie!!

Yes, it is true, our little Ellie is 10!!!!!!
We celebrated with a friend birthday party in which we decorated cupcakes for our families, played beads and explored the backyard. Lola and Gwen attended, it was great. We had a family party with dad when he got home. Ellie got a big tool box with a lock where she can keep her personal stuff, drawing paper and a coloring kit.
