So I decided to start taking one kid on a date and go to a cultural event. I asked Moo if he would go see an opera and he said yes. (The under 30 crowd gets in half price!)
I got tickets for Saturday night. We got all ready and drove to SLCC. We finally found some parking, but couldn't figure how to get out of the garage, so we ended up walking up the ramp. And Mike forgot his coat. We get there and open the door for a theater person holding dinner (this guy will come in later).
We are all excited, and check out the snack stand and there is a lady standing there saying "Lecture?" so I want to go in and Mike goes to the backroom. But I am sort of freaking out because it is 7:04 and the tickets clearly say 7 p.m. We talk to our theater friend a bit about the upcoming season. Then we leave and go up to find our seats. Turns out there is someone in them. Apparently our tickets are for MONDAY.
AHAHAHAHHAHA
So we got down to our red-vested friend and ask him what to do. He s says to try and ask the ticket counter - and we can say he sent us. So we go up front and I am like "we just need to go today, Monday will be too late for bedtime."
I said our problem. The guy behind the lady at the desk says 'let me look at it' and takes our old tickets away. (And I am sort of freaking out because there is a huge sign there that says "No refunds, no exchanges") Ticket guy talks to someone, pushes on a computer, goes around the corner and talks to someone, comes back to the computer and comes out and hands us tickets.
FOR THE ORCHESTRA SEATS!!!!!!!
(read $150 each)
I have never had such great seating in my life! We are just far enough back to almost see the stage and the subtitles at the same time. We are feeling VERY fancy and I am sad I did not dress up more. The first act is long. Mike does great. At intermission the guy next to us talks about opera and I get to say I mainly go to to Logan's festival (and feel cool). He is very helpful and points some things out.
Mike gets treats at intermission. An amazing amount of people left after the first act. The second act is pretty short. More treats. More hob-nobbing with fancy people. We find the car. Mike falls asleep on the way home. Go adventures!
