Yep, the new organ has been installed at the church.
IT
IS
AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wednesday afternoon we took a gaggle of neighborhood kids over to see it (however we could only get the pedals to work - but everyone enjoyed working them a bit). Then after dinner, Josh wanted to go over and see it. So we all went over and played on it some more (and it worked GREAT!) Then we got ice cream cones and went home.
Thursday, Kellie and kiddos were dying for a demo, so we headed over that afternoon and cranked 'er up. Kellie brought along a friend who has just been called as an organist for her church and didn't know much, so I gave my first organ "lesson." (don't worry, she can already play almost as good as me, it was more things like "this symbol means play with your heel and that one means play with your toe.")
Friday morning I went to practice before helping at the school and the Physical Facilities guy was there playing around with it. Heheh, we have a popular organ!
Here are some of the cool things it can do.
1) play the pedal part while you just play the hands!!!
2) has 10 pre-sets for all kinds of music (from slow, soft prelude to nice loud stuff)
3) has REAL speakers and sounds GREAT
4) will provide me with about 40 more years of lesson-material
5) has THREE foot pedals plus lots of knobs down there that change the sounds, etc when you are busy and can only use your foot/knee
6) CHIMES!!!
7) tons of other stuff I have yet to learn about. Next lesson is on Tuesday!
In other news, Josh got a little electronic heart light-up project today and was showing the girls about dioads and sauttering (spelling??) and stuff. They were VERY interested:
And here is the quilt I am working on finishing (post needle of course.) My finger is totally good. Doesn't hurt at all. (tetanus shot hurt lots worse). Yah!!!
And then Josh tied the girls up in blankets - Ashley really liked being the "baby" (and when doesn't she love ANYTHING having to do with babies?)
AND there are TWO books reserved for us at the library and both Josh and I are anxious to read. Yah reading! We might be naughty and skip church on Sunday (stake conference) and go get our super Sunday Brunch Buffet at the America Grand (from our ill-fated trip there in August). Happy weekend!
