Look at my pretty new hair! One day (hopefully soon) , I will learn to have cute hair all the time.
Also Desi, our new chicken, laid her first egg!
We are the Happy Herrons. I, the writer of this blog, am the adoring wife of Josh, happy mom to Ellie, Ashley and Michael. I have amazing friends and love to bake (even if it is gluten-free).

Ashley had her wisdom teeth out on Wednesday. She is doing pretty good. Everything looks good. She still has some pain and wants naps, but is doing pretty good.! Here she is when she insisted on yelling "thank you everyone" while her mouth was all stuffed up.
Then she wanted Chris over to 'take care of her,' which was sweet. And a pic before the pain drugs wore off completely.
We got ONE zucchini and then our plant died of squash bugs. I made a glutey bread for those people.
It hailed super big balls for a bit the other day. We were out driving for some of it, but the van seems unscathed.
One thing I love about summer is the fact that you can super-bleach and make-so-nice-and-clean-smelling towels! And they are crunchy. I LOVE a crunchy towel!
All our apricots/plu-ots/whatever they turned into and picked and distributed.
Romeo got trimmed so he could not be so hot during the 100 degree days.
Did you see my fantastic patio furniture/pillows? I LOVE to go out there in the morning/evening and sit and read...
Sara and I motored up to Logan for the Aida's - the Utah Festival Opera did both the Verdi Adia (opera - everyone dies) and Elton John's Aida (musical - also everyone dies, but the princess becomes the Pharoah).
It was a perfect weekend - Josh was in D.C., Moo went to young men's camp, Ashley and Ellie were at FSY (in Logan) and Sara and I went to spend the nights with Danell. It was lovely! Saw the shows, wandered around Logan (and went to best bookstore ever, see funny signs below), found a fantastic dress. We picked the girls up at 7 a.m. ('We are no longer responsible for your child after 7:30') and went to Angie's for breakfast.
A great time was had by all!!
When Josh got home (from his two week trip to Virginia/Washington D.C.) we checked on the bees .Our dear friend Mark came over and brought his extraction machines. We spun out two frames and got this! And some delicious honeycomb - like the original chewing gum!
Like a rite of passage, Ashley got her wisdom teeth pulled out. Here she is in the bed, during recovery. Then she wanted Christ over to 'take care of her' - she drooled on his shoulder. Here in bed during the first afternoon (aka - plenty of drugs). And then, today. Not so good. Tomorrow is the worst day sweetie, I will help you.
This has been a busy week! Started off with a Fourth party at Heather's. Fourth of July (we didn't even buy any fireworks, just sent the kids off to friends houses to watch). Got dismissed from seeing the doctor for my rotor cuff. He was impressed with my range. Now for strengthening. I went to the gym and did MINOR weighs, and my arm actually felt better. P.T. this week for specific advice. Ellie is at TTech working on her diesel class. Got our pick up of cheap chicken ($1.99/pound for hand-trimmed breasts) and breakfast sausages from the Food Co-op. Graded BYU-I speeches on Thursday night, then Friday afternoon and night (a lot of speeches). Then on Saturday was Ivar's baptism and Ellie went on a mom and dad date to see Newsies at the Hale. She GLOWED the entire time. Picked my second zuchini. Sang along to every song (quietly) and jumped to her feet at the end. I finally found one of my Kindles so I am not book-bereft.
Happy calm-but-hot week.
There is a place in Pleasant Grove called Evermore - which is sort of a fantasy park, where you can dress up, there are buildings, pathways all over, lots of trees, cast members that will send you on quests, totally fun activities to do (knife throwing, battle axes, archery). And TONS of photo ops. Ashley went with a group of friends and we hung around also. It was cool.
So the church has a traveling exhibit called The Tabernacle Experience, where they set up a fake old-timey Tabernacle (from back in the day). Different wards go on different days an explain stuff. It was actually pretty cool. I did have a lot of questions, but I didn't think the 16 year olds knew, so I kept it to myself.
You should totally go if you get a chance.
Mom fail - not a single picture.
But he had a pretty good day, swam with friends, went to Evermore, ate pizza and store-cake.
13 is awesome!
Yep, I turned a whole 52 this year. It was pretty awesome and I decided it had a theme: Nature.
So the day before, we picked the cherries from my trees. Cute pictures!
And Ashley brought me breakfast in bed at 5:40 a.m. With flowers!
Then I got a peach tree to plant in the backyard.
And a rosebush.
AND I got a bee outfit to be a beekeeper!
Go being 52!!
