Watering

Here is an example of what happens when your wonderful hubby sets up a watering system to regularly give all the plants that life-giving water:

Yes these are POTATOES!!! By far the largest we have ever growm.

Bugs

My kiddos are very good at spotting bugs. For example, a few weeks ago one of them saw an albino preying mantis hanging on a wall of a store front. So of course, we collected it and released it by the watermelon plants.

Then someone found this guy in the house, on the door by the garage, in case you think we are in the habit of letting random bugs into our house. Ashley did inform me it was a beetle, not a bug.
And this is the amount of fruit flies we have caught in the last week or so. We have a ton of them this year:
This Friday Josh dropped Moo off at preschool and went fishing by himself - and caught two fish! Obviously we have been fishing at the wrong time of day because he said they stopped biting around 10 a.m.
When I got home at noon, he was frying them up and mine was pretty darn good!

Stars and Stripes

Here is another watermelon from the garden. This one is called a "Stars and Stripes" melon because of the marking on the outside.

A day with Auntie Heather

By Thursday of this week, Heather and I both needed some sister-therapy. So the girls got out of school early (and even earlier because I checked them out at 11:15 not the 12:15 they were suppose to get out, to the great excitement of the 8-and-under-crowd.)

So we motored on down to Provo and had a delightful day. It was capped by some case-lot shopping at about every store in town. I bought, literally I think, 500 pounds of food. So we are totally stocked up one tomatoes, beans and cold cereal for the winter! (Please, the cereal was only $1.49 a box!!)

The kiddos played outside in the awesome weather while Heather and I had some great chatting/therapy inside.

Of course there was fawning over the cutie baby Sam.

A six egg day!

We had SIX eggs on Friday! As you should know, we have six chickens. So that was an exciting day. (And then another day we had SEVEN eggs - it is all very exciting)

Watermelon!

Yum! Josh has been carefully tending his watermelon vines and we picked one the other day.
YUM!!!

Also, here are some photos of the kiddos doing work:
Moo is washing the dishes for me and Ellie is working on her homework:

Baby shower

Yep, I hosted my first baby shower (OK, I only really provided the treats and a location). This is amazing because I am generally (by which I mean always) adverse to showers. Anyway... Ariel Palmer and I got together and had a shower for our (gluten free) friend Kathy Thorpe.

Here are some pics and a good time was had by all.

Chasing the light

You know Josh gets tons of 'fun' toys for his work delivered here. (Apparently if it is sent to the base it can take up to four weeks to arrive.)
So here are Josh and the girls playing with a green laser light:
