Our cow

Papa Smurf has been carefully growing us a cow all summer - even going out in the evening to give it a snack.

Well, as it happens all good things come to an end and then cow met the butcher.

Now we have 600 pounds of cow!! We went and got another freeze, Josh drove around all day, our friends helped us unload and now we are sitting nice and sweet on our winter food storage . Thanks Papa Smurf!

New driver and tech man

Ashley is excited to drive where ever she can now. Today she drove herself to school (with mom in the passenger seat).

Michael did tech for the middle school play. He was awesome and enjoyed being 'back stage.'

Archery!

So there was a good deal on archery lessons - so we went! It was pretty fun, there were some sore arms after- but not too bad. I won't be killing deer out in the wilderness anytime soon though.

Ashley loves to dress up

Ashley loves to get all fancy-dress and get some pictures. Here she is! Also Dad read Ellie "Fox in Socks" to her great delight (I do totally hate that book - all those dumb words). Also Moo got his first shot- one step closer to Spain! And all the kids got their passport info sent in (go Mom).

When I was little girl....

One of my earliest memories was living in Grandma Sandberg's basement. When she was babysitting us, David and I would sit up against the fridge in the kitchen and she would give us a snack. Sometimes every cold cereal!

In the summer wanted bananas, but we didn't have any. She offered to pay me a penny a dandelion I dug up (but I really liked dandelions. I thought they were pretty). Anyway I dug up a few and earned a few pennies. Then, later, someone took me to Ream's Grocery store. (Maybe Aunt Wanda?) Anyway, I was so excited to see that I could buy a banana with my money!! It cost 9 cents, I remember thinking that was a lot of money.

There is a Ream's on my way home from work. So last week I stopped by and bought myself a banana in remembrance. I think it cost 20 cents.

Shed updates

Josh has worked hard this weekend and together we finished 85%  of the roof! There is just the very top (small pieces) on one side. It was a lot of work. Go us! The weather has been  super nice the past two weeks, and now it is getting cold. Ashley got her wart burned and the trees are so pretty!

New driver!!!

Ashley is on official driver!!! (She only had to take the test twice). She has been waiting for this day for a long time  and went driving with Dad this afternoon. And the drivers person said she can drive on a trip to Montana! More reading time for Mom!
