Medium shopper

So you know I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Salt Lake City library. Went there just this week! It feeds my "high cognition" need.
Well I got a couponing book that says if you use more than 104 coupons in a 26 week period you are a "Coupon Enthusiast." But check out this deal! On sale for $1.49, had 50 cent coupon = 99 cents a box!! Can't beat that!

And here are some of the cute slippers we got the kids for Christmas. Now I just say "Put your sharks on" or, for the girls, "Put your bunnies on." SO cute!
Sometimes I really enjoy my gluten free magazine. This time there were recipes about Downtown Abby food made gluten free! So of course I made the Victorian Cream Cake - YUM!!
For scouting Josh brought out some rope and poles and the kiddos (the scout didn't come)   and practiced using pulleys!

And Josh spray-painted our strawberry planters (our 125 strawberry plants should be here anyday now!) brown so they look fancy. Also he put the poles in the middle - that is where you put the worms and then food - and drain out the leftovers):

Our orchard!

Our trees arrived on Friday! (Happily the first day of a four day weekend for EVERYONE!

We were pretty excited. Josh had dug some holes. We soaked them all overnight.
We dug some more holes. I got to tuck each tree in and cover up its roots and tell it we were excited it was there and do grow lots of good fruit for us (I am sure Josh thinks it was silly, but I wanted them to know how happy we were they are here!)

So here is our little orchard: (plum, apricot, two cherry, two apples, almond, nectarine, pluot (plum and apricot). Yum!!!
(Look hard and you can see our little stick trees - they will grow big this year!) They are all in the front yard, except for the two apples which we planted next to the other trees along the fence in the backyard.

Also, my husband is the most handy! Apparently our front door hardware was screwed in wrong in the beginning and since then, some screws have come loose (and been lost).
And there was no replacement the right size! So after taking two door handware completely apart and figuring out the problem (and that it can be easily fixed) - he found the right part on amazon and hopefully it will be here tomorrow. It still locks, so now we have a little ventilation hole!

Hair

So the other day Josh cut Moo's hair (hey why not get him use to buzz cuts now! Save money!)

Then, after a Monday holiday of playing at the Korth's he comes home and tells me that he needs a hair cut. I say no and go about my stuff.
Then that night, he appears with this...

It has not been cut - no stubble. I didn't hear any un-due screaming - did he pull out THAT much hair by himself???

Five is fabulous!

Well there is one way the Higher Power can tell you that a family of five is just fabulous!
He can send you a FIVE FLOWERED amarillus!

I have NEVER seen one with so many blossoms! No. 5 is just getting bloomed there at the top.
In other news:
Daddy got home safe from his trip to San Fran. While he was gone, we had a little "mental health" afternoon - went the girls got home from school we went to Macey's and bought every junk food we wanted! Then we sat on the couch and ate them all!

Moo ate an entire theater-size box of Mike & Ike and half a bag of chips. Then he lay around for 45 minutes crying that his stomach hurt. Great lesson, I pointed out, in why we do not eat too much junk food.
On Wed, after school, we went to play at Aunt Heather's:

Here is another reason we went to Provo. It is teacher-appreciation week at our school and I was in charge of making the door signs for our 1st and 2nd grade teachers. So Heather crafted them up for me and I cleaned her house. Everyone was happy!
Josh and I had started our garden planning
Then this weekend we started on our strawberry barrels. Josh read up on this online and for two 55 gallons drums for $25 we started! We have space now for 120+ strawberry plants in like 2 square feet!
Cut off the top;

We got them so cheap because there was still some fruit syrup inside - no biggie for strawberries but we had to clean them out a bit:
Measure out and cut holes around. Then heat up and bend out - so the plant comes out but the soil stays in! The bottles hold the shape til the plastic cools off.
Josh might cut the top off this one = the soil will fall out. But you can plant berries all around the top too. Yum! Come visit in the summer for berry delights!

Daily stuffs

So we have been doing things since I posted - sorry for the delay!
Josh and I made our first every from-very-scratch 7 layer dip - cooked the beans and squashed the guachamole and everything!
And we made homemade ice cream - yum!

One day Ash came home school and made a puppet show of "Goldilocks" and told the whole thing with her puppets  - so crafty!!

Let's see - what other pictures do I have of our lives:
Ash also made this awesome little purse and she did a selfie!
And Ellie made the one with the flowers (we LOVE making purses!)

Since it is winter I have been doing some quilting crafties in the basement. Me and my girls made one of these for each of my sisters and her girls (future and present)
Can you see where I went wrong with mine at the end?
Also, thanks to some awesomely cheerful fabric, I made this table runner for spring, which is makings its appearance tomorrow at the breakfast table.
Here is a cute report from Moo's Primary teacher:
Michael is so funny!! We were talking about dad's today in class and he was so funny.
Michael: Except too bad my dad is at the airport.
Me: Your dad is at the airport?
Michael: Yep
Me: Is he going somewhere or just hanging out at the airport?
Michael: He is just at the airport. . . but he’s on a plane.
Me: Where is his plane going?
Michael: blank stare
Me: Is it going to Africa?
Michael: No, just Francisco.

He cracks me up, but maybe because I don’t spend all day with him.

So far he seems to be the smartest kid in the class. He paid attention to the lesson and when we showed them a nativity picture he knew who Jesus and Mary were.

He is also funny about being the little reverence patrol. He told Jakoby to be good if he wanted a sticker. He also was turned backwards and peeking during the prayer and pointed to some kid behind him and said, “close your eyes for the prayer.”  Hahahaha

I thought that would brighten your day. - what a great teacher huh?
Have a nice week!
