So after a scary week, guess what arrived!! I have been wanting these for like four years, and after the foster kids left, and I found the catalogue page I had ripped out four years ago, and I felt like I had a little extra money, I bought them!!!! They are so pretty!!!
We are the Happy Herrons. I, the writer of this blog, am the adoring wife of Josh, happy mom to Ellie, Ashley and Michael. I have amazing friends and love to bake (even if it is gluten-free).

9.6
No, this is not my Olympic gymnastics score. It is my INR number for Wednesday. You are suppose to be between 2.5 and 3.5 (for me on the warfin). Not good. I was hemorrhaging all over the place. It was very scary. I went to the doctor, and after I flunked the blood test there, went to the ER. I got some vitamin K and went home. Then I stopped bleeding around midnight. YAH!! Now I am realizing why I was so hungry last week. Now this weekend I am totally laying around and sleeping lots and eating lots of red meat. Yum. Here are my wrist bands from this week. I got my blood checked yesterday and it was ok. I will go and do all my follow up next week, and get all those dumb doctor appointments made. Promise.
Presentations and field trips
The last few weeks have been full of field trips and Show What You Knows. Here are the girls singing their songs (I am sure you can see them).
Ashley, very enthustically, went to the Natural History Museum and the Red Butte Garden - hike of death. Ellie went to a movie about China. Michael went to the planetarium with Grandma.

Women's Day
Mother's Day is always good and bad. Good because I am a mother, but bad because I feel so strongly toward the woman who are not yet mothers. And then especially for the mothers that made it possible for me to be a mother. Big feelings all around.
Look what Josh made me!! And here he is cooking hamburgers ( my dinner choice after my perfect breakfast: waffles with sugar strawberries and whipped cream from the can and bacon.) It is so windy here that the grill has blown over like 17 times since he got it for Father's Day a while back. But new ones are like $400!! So he is trying to fix it up. Go honey!

Pie
You already know that I love to bake. Well I bought myself a new ATKitchen GF cookbook and finally made the Dutch Apple pie recipe. It only took 3. 5 hours. It is DELICIOUS!!! And lasts in the fridge, I have had a slice for the last two mornings. YUM!!!
Middle school
Did I mention that Ellie will be in MIDDLE SCHOOL next year?
Apparently, they are building a new building and will be making it the middle school for 6, 7, and 8 grades. We went to the orientation and got signed up for our extra activities. There are EIGHT periods a day - what if you have homework In all of them?? I am not ready for this.
Ellie signed up for Creative Writing and Orchestra I - playing the cello. We decided on this together with dad. I think we will buy a cello, we can always sell it, if it does not work out.
As an additional musical note (ha!) Ashley has informed me that she is on a piano strike and does not want to practice any more. I said she does not have to learn to play the organ, but has to take lessons for a few more years. Her teacher said she is doing well. Music is good for you Ashley!

School presentations
You get to do a lot of fun things at Excelsior Academy. One is presentations. Last week I went to a poster presentation about Queen Elizabeth I by Ellie and an oral report on King Tut by Michael. Both were awesome. Michael's class especially liked his picture of the mummified picture of King Tut and his question about "where there pee toilets" when he was alive.
Fingers
Ashley and I have been having ouchy fingers for quite a few weeks. Pus came out of mine at one point, but they just weren't getting better. Finally, when I swear I saw Ashley's fingernail move, we went to the Instacare. Apparently we both had paronychia of the finger. Weird we would both have it .Got it lanced, drained, antibiotics. We are both feeling better. Go drugs!
