Hiking, paddleboarding AND relaxing!

So this week excellent cousin Kirsten ( we have been planning this for like 2 years), came out and we went 1) hiking in a canyon and then 2) paddleboarding in Stansbury lake! It was pretty dang fun. The hike was awesome, we talked all the four miles. Then we ate our sandwiches and went to the lake. She has her own paddleboard but was seriously impressed how awesome the lake was (so big with all the pretty  houses). It was cold in the lake, warm in the sun. I really enjoyed it. Maybe Josh and I will go next week!

Then you heard about the chicken last week - here is Michael taking apart the coop - now for the good part of the story. He stepped on a nail taking it apart and we went to the ER again. No nail in his foot, but antibiotics, fun, fun.

The Herron weekend of fun was awesome! Katie hosted Braxton and Katie (now the elder is Aunt Katie and the younger gets to just be Katie) for their engagement party. Then we all motored down the Mike and Holly's house. We were in charge of the food and did street tacos, cervacha, bean and corn salad. Josh cooked up the meat and it was yummy. Everyone was very social - Angie and I talked for like 30 minutes!! Very nice.

Then the next day, Sunday, we motored down (minus Josh, who was on a test), for Luke's homecoming. Holly hosted a party and did a great job. Then we came home and had to be alone by ourselves for a bit.

Our cherries came a bit early (usually they are right on my birthday - they were almost a week early). Our Korth friends helped us pick the second tree. We handed out a lot of cherries. They are very good and we have one bowlful left. We are getting lots of windfalls from the other 'apricot/white nectarine' tree.

A week of the Herrons

So I found some excellent books at D.I. this week. Including this geometry workbook - so I am going to have Josh teach me geometry (since I apparently I learned nothing the first time and practically flunked it in 10th grade).
Also Muriel and I went to a watercolor class on Wednesday and made a rooster. Mine turned out not too bad! I might hang him up in the sewing area.
Guess what! I also learned to bake in the convention oven!!! (after only three years). So you just lower the temperature and cook it for about the same time. After it warms up, just stick it in! As you can see the Julia Child Chocolate Cake went very quickly. Michael asked for three JCCC for his birthday (tomorrow)

A boy and his puppy

Michael was relaxing before church and the puppy joined him...

Some events happened

Michael brave it up and went for his stomach scan at Primary's this week. Since it took an hour, and he doesn't like small spaces, we went with the sedation option.

When I finally got back to see him, he was still out of it. He would look over at the nurse and say, "You are way prettier than my last nurse."  Then he would pass out again, and wake up and look at the nurse and say, "You are way prettier than my last nurse." He did it like 6 times!! And then he couldn't get the goldfish crackers in his mouth - it was pretty funny. However, he did recover and got a Cane's fried chicken meal on the way home (which definitely made it into his mouth).

The father/son camp out was Friday and my men went. Josh made street tacos and there were fun activities. Both of them forgot their pillows, but reported a good time was had by all (they had to take a little nap when they got home).

The big news of the week is that Waldo, the chicken, has passed to the great coop in the sky. This means that our youngest chicken, Dezi, was all alone. Natalie's family agreed to take in our little refugee (chickens need a flock) and we went out and delivered her to her new home (and she even gets a boyfriend there!)

I am LOVING summer!!  Everything just seems so relaxed and calm and I can do fun things.

The kids went on the youth temple trip yesterday, and guess who they met? Grandma (she works a Saturday shift). A good time was had by all.

Now we are hiding inside from the heat wave. Air conditioning is good. This week also looks calm. Michael is getting the MRI on his pancreas on Wednesday, fun fun.

Stay cool!

Summer starts!

Ellie turned 18!!! Congrats Ellie. We had Chinese and Gabe came over,  I got  bunch of texts from medical/official people: Elizabeth is 18 and will no longer be sent medical/official texts from this address. So we need to get that fixed up. If you are still on our insurance, we can know about your medical life.

She also filled out a scholarship form and won $500! Yah!!

Mike and friends went to Stansbury lake and we borrowed the Korth's paddleboards and they all fell off, jumped off the bridge and generally had  marvelous time.

I am working (after grading 16 speeches in one week), on doing happy things for me this summer  (since we have a bunch of teenagers who can look, for the most part, after themselves.)

I found this marvelous book, unused, at D.I. and it is great! Fun, happy things to try. So I am going to do a bunch of them this summer.

Yah summer!!
